A 15-year-old boy was among 21 teenagers who overdosed at a music festival where a girl died, it has emerged. They all fell ill at the same Dreamland event where Emily Stokes, 17, died on 29 June in Margate, Kent. One of the victims – who were all under 18 – was put into a medically induced coma for at least 10 days following the gig.
The mass incident prompted police to ask event organisers to put in place five emergency measures, including the cancellation of all drum and bass events.
Details of the full scale of the events have been revealed in an application to council bosses to review Dreamland’s licence. It states: ‘Kent Police have been informed of an additional 21 patients who were admitted to hospital suffering with similar symptoms relating to a drugs overdose, all of whom had also been at the Dreamland event.
‘Kent Police declared a major incident. All except one person have been discharged, with the remaining victim (at the time of writing [on 9 July]) remaining in hospital in a medically induced coma.’
