Police have launched an investigation after officers discovered a boy dead at a home in Cornwall this morning.
Devon and Cornwall Police stated this afternoon that officers were dispatched to a property on Thornpark Road, St Austell, following concerns for the welfare of a boy. Police attended the scene alongside the South Western Ambulance Service at approximately 7:55 am, where the boy was found unresponsive at an undisclosed address.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Cornwall Live that the boy was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by emergency services. Police have since announced that an investigation into the incident has commenced, though the death is not currently being treated as suspicious.
They said: “Police were contacted by the ambulance service at 7.55am today, 15 January, following concern for the welfare of a child in St Austell. The boy was found unresponsive at an address in Thornpark Road. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the boy was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death which is not currently believed to be suspicious.”
