Charles and Camilla rushed to safety after man seen on roof

The King and Queen were rushed to safety after a mystery person was spotted on a nearby rooftop, hours after a would-be assassin took a shot at Donald Trump. Charles and Camilla had been on a visit in St Helier, Jersey, when a member of their security team spotted the potential threat. Seconds after the Royals had been chatting to locals, they were moved to a nearby hotel as checks were made on the individual.

The incident was declared a false alarm after the suspect was spoken to by police officers and a background check was made. Tension was heightened as it happened two days after a shooter narrowly avoided killing Donald Trump during a rally in the US.

After a brief hiatus of around 20 minutes, the King and Queen were taken back outside to meet local schoolchildren before being welcomed as guests to a tea party. A royal source said: “There was a small issue of concern, an investigation turned out to be a false alarm, every precaution was taken and the programme resumed shortly afterwards.”

Matt Taylor, founder of Jersey Sea Salt, was chatting to the King when the incident unfolded. He told the Sun: “He stopped at the stall and said ‘Ooh sea salt’ and I said ‘Come and have a chat, sir.’ Then his security appeared and grabbed me and said ‘He has to go, now.’”
