Tributes have been paid to a James Bond icon who has died at the age of 99.
James Bond poster creator, painter and illustrator Robert E. McGinnis has died at the age of 99. The artist passed away on 10 March in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, but the news has only just become public. It was confirmed via Legacy.com.
He was renowned for his swinging sixties, pin-up girl-style images of bikini-clad women alongside ruggedly masculine men, and his iconic artwork played a key role in elevating some of the early Bond films. He designed the posters for Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die, amongst others. His work often featured the suave secret agent surrounded by beautiful, scantily clad women, reinforcing the screen icon’s reputation as a womaniser.
