The cash pot for Jay Slater has surged past £70,000 in donations.
Kickstarted with a modest £30k goal by his shell-shocked friends following his disappearance, the fund ballooned after the grim discovery of his remains on Monday, prompting waves of additional donations from shocked supporters.
This week, a heartbroken Debbie Duncan, aged 55 and mother of Jay, praised people for contributing their change and pledged to spend it on a proper farewell for her son. She is rallying the masses to chip in for the funeral costs and to bring Jay back to the UK.
She stated: “Hello everyone, thank you for all of your kindness, support and condolences in light of the tragic news that Jay’s body has been found. We are overwhelmed with grief and are so grateful for your support,” reports the Mirror. She continued: “We want to give our boy the send-off he deserves so please do continue to share and support our fundraiser however you can.”
