Temperatures could climb as high as 27°C next week as a mini heatwave reaches the UK, forecasters have said.
According to the Met Office, it is possible that temperatures will rise to 10°C above the seasonal average across England and Wales in the coming days, although nights will remain chilly, ranging between 4°C and 7°C.
A “large chunk” of England could experience conditions described as “very warm for the time of year”, said Met Office meteorologist Simon Partridge.
“The average temperature for this time of year is about 13°C to 14°C, so for a lot of central and south-eastern England on Monday and Tuesday, there is quite possibly the chance that we will see temperatures around the low to mid 20s in the early part of the week.”
