A seven-year-old girl was on her way home from a shopping trip with her father when she tragically died in a horrific two-car collision.
Schoolgirl Elsie Gascoigne passed away in hospital a day after sustaining serious injuries when a blue Kia Rio collided with a white Citroën Relay on the B1202 Metheringham Heath Lane in Lincoln. Elsie was treated at the scene following the crash, which occurred on Friday, 3 January, at 5.45pm. However, she sadly died the next day at 4.30am.
According to a fundraiser set up in her memory, Elsie had been returning home with her father, Jamie, after a shopping trip where she had spent some of her Christmas money. Her father remains in critical condition in hospital.
Lincolnshire Police stated that Elsie’s family is being supported by specially trained officers. Another person sustained serious injuries in the crash, while two others were believed to have suffered minor injuries.
