Southport murderer Axel Rudakubana was sickeningly desperate for notoriety – but now the attention he long sought after will haunt him in jail, one expert says.
The twisted teenager was yesterday sentenced to life behind bars with a minimum term of 52 years for the murder and attempted murder of innocent children and their teachers in July 2024. One morning last summer, the then-17-year-old took a taxi to a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport armed with a kitchen knife and rampaged through a crowded room of youngsters.
Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, were brutally murdered in broad daylight. Earlier this week, Rudakubana, now 18, pleaded guilty to all charges and will now likely spend the rest of his life in prison. He will be nearly 70 before he could even be considered for release, but as the judge stated in court, it seems unlikely he will ever be freed.
