Trans women BANNED from playing women’s cricket under new rules after Supreme Court ruling

Trans women will be banned from playing women’s cricket under new rules following the “win for common sense” Supreme Court ruling. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced changes to its regulations concerning eligibility for transgender players in women’s and girls’ cricket.

With immediate effect, only those assigned female at birth will be permitted to participate in women’s and girls’ cricket matches.

This follows the Football Association’s announcement that it will also be banning transgender women from women’s football clubs from next season.

Officials are now facing calls to apologise for the treatment of women and girls who were compelled to compete against biological men — and penalised if they raised objections. The decision will impact approximately 20 transgender footballers currently registered at grassroots level.
