A large-scale search is under way in Germany for a gunman believed to still be at large following the fatal shooting of two people yesterday.
Police in a spa town north of Frankfurt were on Sunday intensifying a manhunt for a suspect who remains on the run after two individuals were shot dead the previous day. Officers in the Hesse region stated that the victims were killed in a residential area of Bad Nauheim, approximately 22 miles north of Frankfurt. At present, authorities have no information regarding the motive behind the violent incident. Investigators have also yet to identify the victims.
German news agency DPA reported that a police spokesperson had cited evidence indicating a single perpetrator, although authorities have not ruled out the possibility that others may have been involved.
“A big force deployment” of police from uniformed, plain-clothes and special forces units has been mobilised, supported by a helicopter, to track down the perpetrator or perpetrators, according to Giessen city police.
