The Alarm frontman Mike Peters has died aged 66 after being diagnosed with blood cancer.
His death was confirmed by a spokesperson for the charity he co-founded with his wife. The musician was forced to cancel his US tour last year due to his health, after being diagnosed with a fast-growing lymphoma.
He had been receiving treatment in Manchester but has sadly passed away. The father-of-two had been due to travel to the United States last year, but just five days before his 50-date tour was set to begin, he noticed a lump in his neck. Doctors quickly assessed him, and he was soon diagnosed with Richter’s syndrome – a condition where chronic lymphocytic leukaemia transforms into a more aggressive form of lymphoma.
Mike was first diagnosed with blood cancer more than three decades ago, when he was just 36 years old. Only last year, he posted a lengthy message of support for others going through Richter’s syndrome, as he shared his own positive update.
